Don’t hide from your data strategy

We rely on data more and more to inform the decisions we make. If the data is of poor quality it may lead to poor decisions and poor outcomes.

Researchers Tadhg Nagle, Thomas Redman and David Sammon have found that only 3% of organisations had data of acceptable quality. This shouldn’t scare you into hiding from your data strategy. Quite the opposite, it should inspire you to take control. By assessing the quality of your data, you can quickly identify key opportunities for change that yields big results.

Six tips for investing in compound time

Taking the time to stand back from your work priorities and invest time in yourself and your learning is crucial to your long-term success. Michael Simmons calls this compound time, because by making this time for yourself, what you are able to achieve in the long term increases exponentially. Here are his six tips on using compound time:

  1. Keep a journal. This will help you explore ideas, internal conflicts, and imagine potential outcomes.
  2. Have a nap. Breaking your day up with naps enhances your thinking and makes you more productive.
  3. Have a 15-minute walk. Just 15 minutes of walking can make you more productive, and has obvious health benefits.
  4. Read more. This gives you direct access to key learnings of some of the brightest minds in the world.
  5. Have a conversation. Having regular chats about your concepts and ideas with a close peer lets you bounce ideas around and see things from another perspective.
  6. Make mistakes. Constant experimentation is at the root of success. By figuring out what doesn’t work and why, new hypotheses are formed about what does work.

Gareth James joins the team as creative director

We are delighted to welcome Gareth James to the Brilliant Noise team as creative director. Gareth will work with the team to weave brilliant creative-led strategy throughout campaign-based internal communications and complex transformation programs.

Gareth was previously Creative Partner at Aqueduct London, where he lead the branding, design and UX of creative technology initiatives. Prior to this, he was chief creative officer at TMW Unlimited, leading their creative output and setting up the digital arm of the business, growing it to a 60 strong creative team.
